Family Activities

Winter Activities

Borgafjällsområdet (Mountain area)
The area is also called "An El Dorado for Alpine Sports" and offers many different winter activities. Here are many carefully planned and clearly marked jogging tracks and ski leads.

The hills and tracks are both lighted. Even many runs, lifts, snowmobile trails, rest cottage entrances and break areas are lighted.

Fishing

Doroteas Excellent Fishing Waters

In Dorotea, there are fish to suit everyone! Opportunities for fly fishing, spinning, angling and ice fishing. What can you catch? There are natural populations of trout, grayling, char and whitefish. There also has been stocks of trout, char and rainbow trout in many waters. We even have many lakes with perch and pike.

In Dorotea Municipality, we have 16 fishing areas that our fishing waters have been divided into. There are also opportunities for winter fishing, which begins when the first ice has settled in the fall until it melts in the spring.

Nature

A Different Nature

In Dorotea, you can discover a beautiful and unique nature. Don't miss the unique and legendary Vittertrappan near Granåsbyn, on the road from Svanabyn or Stenbitshöjden, where there are breathtaking views over the powerful cutting steep cliffs.

At Månsberget in Ormsjö, you will find many interesting plants. The mountain is a so-called "sydväxtberg" which means that due to the protection from the northern winds and with the extra heat from the sun to the South, the plants are confused and many from the south grow here.

Blaikfjället Nature Reserve in Sagatun is a great area for picking mushrooms, cloudberry and other fruits.

Fanstastic Hiking Trails

Take the opportunity to experience our beautiful nature and go for a walk along one of our trails. Here are forest trails and mountain hiking trails.

Some good hiking trails are:
Sutme to Klimpfjäll via Slipsiksstugan
Borgafjäll to Saxnäs
Rissjöarna in Risbäck to Lill Månkesvallen/Hjortronstigen
Mountain Tunavägen upstream Fjällån to Sagatun.
