Tidö leksaksmuseum (Toy Museum)

The Tidö Toy Museum was created by Carl-David con Schinkel and was inaugurated June 17, 1974 by Carl XVI Gustaf. The collection is not only the first toy museum in Sweden, but also the largest. It is a museum about children, for children and adults too. Toys through time. In the same way adults should take the game serious, children take their toys seriously. The oldest toys were made by children themselves. A pair of pins and stones represented animals or people and with them, the children played in the adult world. Gradually, the more sophisticated toy production came with products only rich families could afford. The expensive toys were bought for special occasions and played with under supervision because they were so expensive. When toys started to be produced in masses, the products became cheaper and more affordable. The Toy Museums Goal Generally, children are not cautious with toys, this can be due to the curiosity of "looking inside." Therefore, there are very few of the early massed produced toys left, and the ones remaining were because of the watchful eye of the parent. At Tidö Toy Museum, many of the toys are miniature versions on display going back over the centuries. It is our own childhood toys we would like to bring back in the next generation.

Nature

Moose Safari

As the night falls the forest comes to life and moose awake from their daytime slumber to feed. Quietly we put ourselves on the animals level and await in the middle of the their living room, keeping a keen eye out for any movement. Suddenly, the silence is broken with a crash as a large moose strides out of the glades before us and we stand eye to eye with the King of the Forest. Meet wild moose on a real adventure in Berglagens deep forests. We prepare a wild game dinner together over an open fire and stay overnight in an authentic tree house in the middle of the woods. We offer exciting activities for company groups, with forest contests, a wilderness sauna and cooking over an open fire. Fits perfectly for company kickoff's and as conference activities.

Turbinhuset

The water has always played a significant role for Västerås. During 1200-1300's, it was the water that gave Västerås its' greatness. Iron starting being shipped from the city's harbour in Bergslagen. Next, electricity played a large role when introduced in Sweden during the 1800's. In 1881, the first streetlight was lit in Sweden and the first time in Västerås on the 2nd of March 1884. The lighting was installed by Elektriska Aktiebolaget which at that time was located in Arboga. Towards the end of the 1880's, the advancements started to lead to bigger things. In Västerås, Oskar Fredrik, an active municipality politician during the time, ensured the mill located along Svartån was Sweden's first power station, Turbinhuset. In 1890, it was decided to move Elektriska Aktiebolaget to Västerås and at the sametime changed the name to Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget and ASEA was founded. Today, Turbinhuset is a museum and has the agreement on exhibition.
