Bergsjön (Lake)

Beautiful small lake in the forest with cliff beaches. Located higher up and in an open area with pine forest on the heights and a hardwood forest along the slopes and valleys. There are powerful cliffs along the south and west side of the lake. Pier, jumping/diving towers, grill area.
10 km northeast from the center. Cliffs.

Hovåsbadet (Bathing Place)

Located 11 km southwest of the center. Both sand and rocks. Kiosk, restrooms, trampolines, and grass lawns.
GL Express Blue or line 80 from Nils Ericsons terminal to Hovås Nedre.

Näset med Smithska Udden (Bathing Place)

Rocky area with cliff beaches and tall dominating forests along the valleys. The Bathing area has a blue flag which means excellent clean beaches and swimming. Kiosk.

Valhallabadet (Bathing Place)

Valhallabadet is one of Scandinavia's largest inside swimming complex's, with over a half million visitors every year. Public capacity, the pools length and depth make it possible to host championships at elite levels. Here you will find a large variety of bathing and recreational activities, body training, and beauty care.

Vattenpalatset (Bathing Complex)

Vattenpalatset in Lerum, is a complete health center. Adventure bathing with a waterfall, cave, slide, bubble bath, sauna, solarium and outside swimming pool. Here you will even find bowling and a cinema.
Directions: Only 15 minutes by car, take E20 from Göteborg. Local traffic, bus and train, make it easy and quick for you to visit Vatenpalatset.

Elfsborgs Fästning (Fort)

Elfsborgs Fästning is on an island situated at the mouth of Göta Älv's and dates back to the 17th century - with a very intriguing history. On the island, you will find a cafeteria, prison caves and the Karoliner Church. Guided boat trips are available which takes around 30 minutes to the island. The tours go along the inner and outer parts of the harbor. Take a tour and hear the intriguing history related to prison life and the fort.

Liseberg (Amusement Park)

The Uppswinget - Screamin' Swing - is a gigantic swing where you sit with your legs dangling high over the ground. It accelerates from 0-80 km/h, ten times during the ride. Try one of the other roller coasters, Balder or Kanonen (The Canon), along with many of other other rides featured in the park. For the parents, take a stroll and enjoy the magnificent display of flowers found only at Liseberg.

Paddan (Boat Tours)

Take a guided boat tour through the canals in Göteborg and out into the harbor. The tour goes from Kungsportsbron (Bridge). Season runs from May - Septermber.

Ringlinjen (Vintage Trams)

The vintage trams run between Central Station and Liseberg. All the wagons are more than a 100 years old. The personnel are volunteers and all the proceeds are used for maintenance and preserving the trams.

Slottsskogen (City Park)

The Slottskogen is the people's city park, with wonderful open green areas and meeting places. In the zoo, you can see all sorts of Nordic animals, tame and wild. During the summer, the Childrens Zoo is open with pigs, piglets and chickens and many other animals. Don't miss Säldarmmen, where the seals and penguins are fed everyday. There is also a Natural Historical Museum, featuring cottages from the different counties in Sweden, and bird sanctuary.

Universeum (Science Center)

Sweden's National Science Center is for those whom have a longing for knowledge. Here you can find experimental workshops, spaceships, a giant aquarium with sharks, pet a Sting Ray, see deadly poisonous snakes, mountain slopes and an entire rain forest complete with apes, caymans, piranhas, the entire rain forest environment.

They say the fishing around Göteborg is the best in the country. You can catch everything from salmon to perch and pike. (The lakes Vättlefjäll or Delsjöarna). To fish in the lakes and rivers, you must have a fishing license. Fishing Sea Charters go daily from Göteborg. Liseberg's Guest Harbor, Lilla bommens is located in central Göteborg between Göteborg's Opera House and the red/white skyscraper next to Götaälvsbron (bridge). Röhsska museet (Museum)

Scoutmuseet (Scout Museum)

The Scoutmuseet is dedicated to camp scouts all over the world; scouting uniforms, camp material and thousands of scouting books. The museum also cares for the Scout Monument in Slottskogen, dedicated to the memory of Ebbe Lieberarth, 1959, and celebrates the 50 year old memory of the first scout patrol in Göteborg and in Sweden. At the monument ,there are engraved stones for every corp and district.

Sjöfartsmuseet (The Maritime Museum and Aquarium)

Sjöfartsmuseet covers Swedish maritime history for over 400 years. The basic exhibitions reflect merchant shipping, the fishing industry and Gothenburg's port development. The temporary exhibitions show visitors modern maritime life through art, musical and presentations. An exciting renovation work started in 2006 and is taking place, so the museum can offer more experiences. There will be something for everyone that is interested in the sea, sailors and shipping. Renovations have been taking place since 2006, when the museum decided to invest into the future of the museum and the experience's it could offer. Skärgård & utflykter (Archipelago and Outings)

Göteborg is close to the sea with wonderful salt baths and cool cliffs on warm summer days. The sea is wildly captivating with its rich blue waters that can shine like a mirror. The cliffs, the houses, the ships are all likewise enchanting. A tour out in Göteborgs archipelago is an experience year round. The ferry Saltholmen can take you to the southern part of the archipelago.

Stora Amundön (Archipelago)

Stora Amundön offers 4,5 km of nature/walking paths which go around the island. There are hills here and there. A part of the path is accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. The nature varies with meadows, oaks and ash trees and with exceptional lichens. Bare mountains with wonderful bushes, a variety of low growing trees with many interesting plants and rich with bird life. Excellent fisheries and bathing places. The island is a nature reservation. Cliffs, stone beach and deciduous forest.
Approximately 30 minutes from the city center.
Bus 58 from Drottningtorget to Brottkärr. About 1 km walk.

Vinga

Göteborgs most westerly point. Evert Taubes childhood home is well worth the visit. Here, not only can you visit the lighthouse and Taube's Museum, but you can also bathe in several of the west coast's best bathing waters. Transportation provided by Börjessons Restaurant and tour boats.
Boat tours are about 1,5 hours and are offer around the middle of July to August and leave from Lilla Bommen.

Botaniska trädgården (Göteborg Botanical Garden)

Sweden's largest botanical garden with over 12,000 plant species. A fantastic park with a large variety of plants and trees from all over the world. Stroll around in Vitsippsdalens ravine or take a cup of coffee in our cozy café. Enjoy the garden and allow yourself a little relaxation.

Gunnebo Slott och Trädgårdar (Gunnebo Palace and Gardens)

Welcome to Gunnebo House and Gardens, one of Sweden's most beautiful neoclassical estates, situated between Stensjön and Rådasjön in Mölndal, just south of Gothenburg. There are three different types of gardens represented at Gunnebo: the formal garden, the landscape park and the kitchen garden. The entire park is ecological and focuses on antique garden handicrafts.

Trädgårdsföreningen (The Garden Society)

The Garden Society is Sweden's best preserved park from the 1800's. A large solarium, entertainment and seminars make it a natural meeting place year round. Free entree with the Göteborg Pass. The Garden Society is located in central Göteborg and has two entrances. One to the south at Kungsportsplatsen and one at the Central Station.

Worth Seeing

Feskekôrka (Fish Hall)

Built in 1874 was an architectural experiment by Victor von Gegerfelt, (military), whom was one of two dominating architects during the 1800s. The house is a Fish Hall, but with the large bay windows and high ceiling, resembles the interior of a church.

Masthuggskyrkan (Church)

Masthuggskyrkan was built in 1914 and the tower is one of the first sights as the ships enter the harbor. Wonderful views. Built by the architect Sigfrid Ericsson.

Tjolöholms slott (Manor House)

Tjolöholms Manor House is located at Kungsbackafjorden and is from the early 1900s. A unique castle environment and nearby church. The area also offers beautiful walking paths, bathing place, and a rich bird life. In Vagnsmuséet (museum) you can find articles of great value, such as, a Hansom-Cab and one of Sweden's first electrical vacuum cleaners. During the summer, the castle is open daily and for booking groups year round. Storstugan is located in the middle of the village and offers a wonderful buffet. Midsummer celebrations and a large Christmas market are organized every year.

Konserthuset (Concert House)

Activities are year round at Göteborg's Concert House. The building has been praised by many for it's wonderful acoustics and is home for Sweden's National Ochestra and Göteborgs Symphonies. The Concert House is situated on Götaplatsen and is together with the Stadsteatern (City Theatre), Göteborgs Konstmuseum (Art Museum) and the magnificent Poseidon.
