Täby has everything within reach, just like in town, and also an abundance of wildlife. You can enjoy the beautiful pastures at the vicarage or stroll around in Rönninge Village.

In Täby, you can also enjoy a concert and the theater, look at art or take a round of golf on Skålhamra. Hike along "Roslagsleden", swim in Tibblebadets 50-meter swimming pool or go on Täby Thoroughbred Horse Racing, these are a few examples of activities in the area.

In Täby's city center, you can find about 150 shops, post office, banks, pharmacies, insurance companies, restaurants and a cinema. In the other municipalities, there are smaller centers with shops and various types of social services.

City

Täby municipality is located approximately two miles north of Stockholm, near the archipelago, city center and Arlanda Airport. Täby municipality has 60,000 inhabitants. Täby has grown rapidly in recent decades and since 1948, the number of inhabitants has increased fivefold. The municipality has however, kept its original character, with more green areas untouched just around the corner. The social life is large and has many sports clubs.

Täby schools are of very high quality shown by a review by The National Agency for Education. In Täby, we select a school, and the municipal schools work under the same conditions as private kindergartens and private schools, while recreation activities are driven to a large extent by private providers. In 2006, the Conservatives held the majority on the Municipal Council with 34 seats out of 61. The Conservatives, Liberals, Christian Democrats and Center Party are in agreement on fundamental issues for the political work in Täby during the term of office 2007-2010.

In Täby, there are more than 5 000 active companies. Most are small companies with operations in the service sector, trade and electronics / IT.

Täby covers about 66 square miles and bordered by Danderyd to the South, Österåker to the North, Sollentuna to the West and by Upplands-Väsby to the northwest.

History

Täbys History

A district inhabited since the Bronze Age, famous and renowned during the Viking Era. Then during the next 800 years, a farmer's parish, and in the early 1900s added communities around several railway stations. As of 1950, it developed into a suburb of Stockholm.

Täby's history goes way back, and many of the 37 Runic engravings exist in the area which are evidence of Viking life. The most famous Viking was "Jarlabanke" - a farmer's chief who said they "take the whole of Täby."

Swimming

Bathing Places

Norskogsbadet is located in the central park in Näsbypark. It is a heated outside swimming pool with lifeguards and is open during the summer.

Rösjöbadet is located at Lake Rösjön in Skarpäng. Changing rooms, restrooms and kiosk.

Ängsholmsbadet at Lake Rönningesjön is in Gribbylund. Changing rooms, kiosk and restroom.

F-2 bath / Hägernäsbadet at Värtan along Hägernäs beach.

Skavlöten at Lake Rönningesjön is in Löttinge. Changing rooms, shower, sauna, restaurant and restrooms. Operated by Täby Orientering. At Skavlöten is a running track and much more.

Ullnabadet is located at Ullnasjön, below Ullnabacken in Arninge.

Näsaängsbadet is located at Värtan in Näsbypark. Restrooms and access to the kiosk via the tennis court next to it.

In Täby there are also indoor swimming pools. "Tibblebadet" at Täby Center is part of Täby Sport Center and is one of the largest swimming pools in the Stockholm area.

Fishing

Fishing

Fishing is available in three fishing areas and controlled by the area fishing associations. Each "fiskevårdsområde" (Fishing Association) has its own board and controls fishing regulations and the stockage.

Täby Fishing Association
The largest area for the Täby Fishing Organizations includes Lakes Ullnasjön, Gullsjön, Käringsjön, Mörtsjön, Ullnabäcken and a part of the large Lake Värtan. The lakes are rented by the Anglers Stockholm District and fishing clubs, thereby accounting for the expert stocks of fish. To fish in the Täby Association's four lakes, you need an Anglers Sport Fishing card which is also valid for an additional 40 lakes throughout the county. The card costs 250 Kronor per year or a day card costs 50 Kronor and can be purchased at "Sportfiskeboden" (both are family cards). For children up to 15 years, it is free to fish with a Junior Fishing Card.

Lake Rönningesjöns Fishing Association
A fishing license for Lake Rönningesjön cost 200 Kronor per year (family). Day cards cost 50 Kronor. A yearly card for children up to 15 years cost 50 dollars.

Lake Vallentunasjöns Fishing Association
Lake Vallentunasjöns fishing license is available as a biannual card or daily card. Biannual cards are valid from June 1, until December 31. Price 200 Kronor. Daily cards do not apply during the period from January 1 to June 1. Price 35 Kronor. Children under 16 can fish free. Lake Vallentunasjön is closed until 31 May 2006, and also from January 1 to May 31, 2007.

Large Lake Värtan
In the case of the Lake Värtan, handheld line fishing is free. On the waters of the archipelago in Lake Mälaren, a TDA-card for trolling / drag rod / angling are available in several different forms and different prices.

The fishing card must be presented upon demand at any of the fishing locations. The card is valid for the entire family which includes the holder, spouse or partner. Children under 16 years should have their own junior card, if unaccompanied by an adult.

Viggbyholm Marina has place for more than 1,000 boats. Since Täby is located along Lake Värtan, it is in fantastic proximity to the beautiful archipelago of Stockholm. Viggbyholm sailing clubs can provide you with more information.

Museum

Hembygdsmuseet in Rönninge (Museum)

The Hembygdsmuseet Museum in Rönninge, is housed in warehouses from the 1800's . The old building is decorated with showrooms on the two bottom floors, while on the top floor is used for self storage.

The museum has sought to reproduce the environment, showing how it was in Täby at the beginning of this century, when residential district began to buildup. The exhibition is divided into one of more permanent character, and one to show the current activities in Täby. The latter exhibition can also accommodate theme and touring exhibitions. In the small shop, you can souvenirs and caramel cones.

Nature

Nature Reserve

The Municipal Nature Reserve in Rönninge Village - "Skavlöten" was inaugurated on December 7, 2002. The nature reserve is located between Lake Rönningesjön and Route E18 (exit Arninge, Vaxholm). The municipality wants to preserve the natural/cultural assets and the clean air in the region.

For visitors, please do not disturb the wildlife, nature, or cycle on walking or jogging tracks. Dogs must be kept on a leash.

Runriket

In the area around Lake Vallentunasjön, are unusually numerous Viking Rune Stones. Nowhere else in the world are there so many different "runinskrifter" (rock engravings) than right here! We call this Runriket. Here you can experience history on their own beautiful landscape.

Parks

Parker

Täby has many beautiful parks and nature reserves. Along the streets small parks with lush greenery, decorated roundabouts and avenues.

One of the parks in Täby is Central Park, with beautiful flower beds, bathing and large grass area for sports.

Worth Seeing

Karby gård

Karby Manor is Täbys Arts Center for the general public. In the main building, there are a dozen exhibitions each year, with both local artists by artists from all around the country. There is also a Graphic Workshop and a cafe. In the west wing is an art gallery boutique, screen gallery and art library. We host a popular Christmas market every year. Sweden's National Day on June 6, is celebrated with music and dancing in the park. The park has a bandstand and a herb garden.

Näsby Castle

Näsby Castle was built around 1660 by the drawings of Nicodemus Tessin "the elder". The castle burnt down in 1897, but five years later was rebuilt by its new owner Carl Robert Lamm using the original drawings. However, the old stables from 1665, are preserved, one of Täbys oldest secular buildings. The castle is beautifully located along Näsbyvikens beach.

Runborg (Sailors Cottage) in Täby Church Village

In the Täby Church Village, just north of Jarlabankes Bridge is the sailors cottage called "Runborg" from the 1700s and is now a museum. The house shows what it must have been like for a sailors family in the 1800s.

Rönninge Village

Rönninge Village along Lake Rönningesjöns eastern shore, is a living village, where you can see how everyday was for them about 100 years ago. Here is the "Hembygdsföreningens", (Home District Association Museum) where you can see how it was to live in Täby around the turn of the century.

The animals are mainly Swedish animals, such as Nordic Swedish horses, Gotland ponies and Swedish cattle. Here is also Täbys last cow-barn with dairy cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and rabbits.

Täby Church

Täby church was built in the mid 1200s. Today's church is guessed to have had a predecessor made of wood. Jarlabankes Manor could have been in about the same place where the church is today. The sacristy was added during the 1300's and after a fire in mid-1400's the wood was replaced with brick. At the same time, a weapons house was built. In the 1400's, two parts of a Rune Stone, on the weapons house wall, tells that Holme died in Italy. Täby church is one of the nine top tourist attractions around Runriket.

Täby Thoroughbred Racing

Each year, Täby Thoroughbred Horse Racing arranges about 100 days of racing with various themes. We have 20 personnel which are responsible for the well-run and attractive facility. During the racing days, we have an additional 50 temporary employees to ensure the competitions are conducted in a professional manner. About 25 trainers operate the daily training at the track and at the training facilities in Angarn and Tacurong. Swedish Horse Racing is the head organization for Thoroughbred racing in Sweden and is located in the Equestrian House. Each year, there are about 400 races and around 35 Million Kronor handed out in prize money. Täby Thoroughbred Horse Racing turnover of around 55 Million Kronor in addition to prize money.
