Södertälje is a city with an old ancestry and located where Lake Mälaren and Lake Saltsjön meet. The two connect to the Södertälje Canal which has the largest locks which every year thousands of boats cross and are welcomed by Södertälje's Guest Harbor which has won a prize as Sweden's best harbor. The city and the surrounding area offers many exciting attractions and sights. Did you know almost 1.5 million people visit our attractions every year and with the science center "Tom Tits Experiment" and Sydpoolen (Waterland Adventure) are leading the way? Tom Tits Experiment is Sweden's largest science center with around 400,000 visitors per year. There are more than 600 experiments for which children and adults can experiment with natural phenomena such as water, air and optical illusions. Sydpoolen is a bathing paradise for all ages with fantastic adventures and also offers relaxation and Spa. But, there is so much more in Södertälje. Tom Tits Experiment is Sweden's largest Science Center. Here you can try it for yourself and explore all the experiments that are available. The Human Development and our senses along with phenomena related to water, air, light, sound and motion.

Fishing

Fishing in the area also includes the Inner Maren and at Skansholm. Here you'll find pike, pike-perch, perch and sea trout.

Museum

The Marcus Wallenberg Hall

This museum about vehicles, contains a number of older vehicles and among other things, a copy of the first Swedish car series from 1903. Here you can also find train cars which belonged to the State Railways, and traveled the Swedish railways in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Torekällbergets Museum

Torekällbergets Museum is also called the "Little Skansen". Here you can see craftsmen quarters and exhibitions. You can also visit the animals found on farms such as pigs, goats, horses and rabbits.

Worth Seeing

Birka

At Björkö, on Mälaren, we find Sweden's first city, "Birka," which was founded in the 750's. Take a guided tour through the area or visit our museum. Boat to Birka leave from Södertälje during May-September or you can choose to go with the Steamship Ejdern or one of the "Strömma Kanalbolaget" boats.
